The FCT chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN has applauded the appointment of former Nigeria Football Federation board member, Senator Obinna Ogba as the Senate committee chairman on sports.
In the same vein, SWAN also applauded the appointment of Hon Goni Bukar Lawal, as the new House committee chairman on sports.
The association believes that Ogba’s appointment is a very strong statement by Senate president, Bukola Saraki that he actually has the interest of sports at heart.
Senator Ogba has been a strong member of the Nigerian sporting family and understands the dynamics of sports administration in Nigeria.
FCT SWAN has resolved to work positively with both lawmakers with a view to ensuring that proper policies that would move Nigeria sports forwards are churned out.
According to the Chairman of the Association, Kayode Adeniyi, “We are very happy to have these two gentlemen supervising Nigerian sports from the legislative side.
“Ogba is a known name in Nigerian football and so will not be in a strange territory. We hope to work with them hoping that they will also be willing to work with us.
” Our interest is to see Nigeria sports move from strength to strength and this can only be possible through a robust legislative leadership,” he concluded.
Senator Ogba takes over from Adamu Gumba, while Goni Bukar Lawal takes over from Godfery Gaiya.
