M.I Abaga Explains Why Nigeria Is Ideal for Raising Children

Renowned Nigerian rapper and music executive, M.I Abaga, has opened up about his strong desire to raise his future children in Nigeria, emphasizing the country’s rich sense of community and strong family values.

In a recent interview, the award-winning artiste highlighted how Nigeria’s culture of unity and togetherness provides the ideal foundation for nurturing children. He contrasted this with life in countries like the United States, where he said many parents struggle to find adequate family support due to demanding work routines.

“There are a lot of things appealing about home, especially because we’re already ingrained in that system. There’s a lot of support as well. I feel it’s very difficult for parents abroad,” he said.

M.I pointed out that one of Nigeria’s greatest advantages lies in its extended family system, which allows parents to depend on relatives for help with raising children — something he noted is often missing in Western societies.

“You have enough people that can stay at home and support you. But it’s not easy abroad — everyone is a professional and busy,” he added.

While acknowledging that raising children abroad comes with certain benefits, the rapper, who got married in 2022, said he would prefer his children to experience their early years in Nigeria before moving overseas.

“Maybe it’s a thing like early years here and then at a certain point, move abroad. There are some good things about Nigeria that make it ideal for the early days,” he said.
