Popular Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has taken a moment to reflect on his journey of recovery as he marked two years since the fire that razed his home in Lekki.

In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Wednesday, AY posted a video montage showing the charred ruins left behind by the 2023 fire alongside stunning footage of his newly rebuilt mansion.

Accompanied by a voiceover narration, the comedian looked back on the difficult period that followed the incident — a time he described as the beginning of a painful chapter in his life.

“Two years ago today, everything went up in flames: my home, my peace, my comfort zone. And that was just the beginning. I have seen betrayal, lies, and storms that tried to silence everything I built,” he said.

“But I am still here, not because I am lucky, but because God is faithful and grave is louder than gossip, and purpose doesn’t burn in fire.

“They still plot, talk, but while they walk in darkness, I walk in light, every setback was a setup for something greater. Thank You God for beauty after ashes.”

The video gave viewers a look inside the restored residence, showcasing its luxurious finish — from gleaming marble floors and graceful staircases to a stylish mix of contemporary and Afrocentric interior designs.

It would be recalled that AY’s Lekki home was destroyed by a fire in 2023, forcing him and his family out and drawing nationwide attention and support. Fans, celebrities, and fellow entertainers rallied around him in the aftermath, offering encouragement and solidarity.

Now, with his home rebuilt and his life firmly back on track, AY is being celebrated across social media for his resilience and strength, with fans flooding his comment section with congratulatory messages.
