Controversial Nigerian social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has once again stirred the waters online, this time taking aim at the founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, over his recent preaching and alleged intolerance to criticism.
Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan launched a scathing critique of Pastor Ibiyeomie’s message on tithing, accusing the cleric of twisting biblical scripture for personal gain.
He claimed that the pastor’s statement—that those who criticize him would face consequences—was evidence of a deeper issue with accountability.

“I took my time yesterday to go through his preachings and I think I understand why he says if you criticise him, they will arrest you. It is because he says a lot of NONSENSE,” VeryDarkMan said. According to him, Ibiyeomie’s teachings are filled with manipulative interpretations designed to instill fear and pressure congregants into paying tithes.
He particularly questioned a claim allegedly made by the pastor that Adam was expelled from the Garden of Eden for not paying tithe. Dismissing it as false doctrine, VeryDarkMan recounted the biblical story of Adam and Eve, stating that tithing was never mentioned in that context.
He traced the first instance of tithing in the Bible to Cain and Abel, arguing that tithes only came into play after humanity had left Eden.
“Imagine David Ibiyeomie now, twisting everything upside down to say the reason why Adam was sent out of the garden of Eden is because he did not pay tithe. Therefore saying that if you don’t pay tithe, God will not want to associate with you,” he said.
The activist also claimed that critical comments on the pastor’s social media posts are often deleted, which he interpreted as a sign that the church is intolerant of opposing views. “Truly, the man doesn’t like criticism,” he said.
VeryDarkMan warned Ibiyeomie against using the police as a tool for suppression, adding that he would not be intimidated. “I’ll be coming to Nigeria very soon. I want to see who will lock me up for talking about David Ibiyeomie,” he said.
He concluded by accusing many Nigerian pastors of manipulating the youth through fear-based preaching, saying, “They brainwash the youth not to move… just keep praying and paying your tithes. It’s a very big problem.”
This latest rant continues a pattern of online confrontations between VeryDarkMan and religious leaders, as he uses his platform to challenge what he sees as exploitation and abuse of spiritual authority.
