Hon. Oriyomi Adewunmi Onanuga, a prominent member of the Federal House of Representatives, has passed away following a brief illness.
Onanuga, who represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, was 60 years old at the time of her death. She served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives.
As of now, neither the National Assembly nor her family has issued an official statement regarding her passing.
Born on December 2, 1965, in Hammersmith, London, to Nigerian parents, Onanuga was a respected politician and entrepreneur.
She had been serving in the House of Representatives since 2019, having won a seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In addition to her legislative role, Onanuga chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, advocating for gender equality and social welfare.
