A Chief Magistrate Court in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, on January 7, 2025, sentenced Mr. Nuhu Isah to six months imprisonment for intimidating officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The court, however, offered an option of a ₦20,000 fine.
According to a statement by the FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the incident occurred on January 5, 2025, when Isah, a passer-by, recorded an FRSC patrol team during their operation. While doing so, he intimidated the officers and incited passengers to attack the team as they carried out their duties.
Reacting to the incident, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, condemned the act and called on Nigerians to support efforts to ensure safer highways.
“The FRSC remains steadfast in its mission to promote road safety, and such threats from miscreants will not deter us. We urge all road users to refrain from disrupting law enforcement activities,” Mohammed stated.
