As Muslims across the world continue the celebration of Eid-el Fitri, Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Goodluck Jonathan, has felicitated with Muslims in the country over the completion of the Ramadan fasting and the celebration of Eid-el Fitri.
In a sallah message, she called for continued prayers for the unity, peace and progress of the nation.
Mrs. Jonathan exhorts Moslem faithful to use the occasion of the Sallah
celebrations to renew their commitment by being good ambassadors of their religion by their deeds and utterances.
She further urged them to continually uphold the injunctions and sacred teachings of the Holy Prophet
Mohammed by demonstrating the virtues of peace, tolerance, compassion and charity towards one another.
The First Lady, who is also the President of the African First Ladies Peace Mission, notes that women have an important role to play in their communities as the vanguards of promoting peace and social harmony.
She advised Nigerians to teach their children the significance of prayer and the importance of humility, integrity and peaceful coexistence.
She also asked all Nigerians to join hands and work collectively in order to build a strong nation of our dreams.
