The national leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has washed its hands off the purported suspension of a former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, by the state chapter of the party.
Bamanga Tukur, the national chairman of PDP held closed door meeting with Mr. Fayose on Thursday at the Wadata House headquarters of the party during which he pointedly said he was not in the picture of the action taken by the state chapter.
To ensure that the party in the state put its House in order ahead of the 2014 gubernatorial election, the national chairman promised to set up a committee to reconcile all the aggrieved stakeholders in the state.
It was gathered that former local government chairmen in the state were also in attendance at the meeting as well as some party chieftains.
It will be recalled that the state chapter of the party on Tuesday announced the suspension of the former Governor, alleging that he mobilized those who unleashed violence on party members and journalists at the state secretariat of the party in Ado-Ekiti.
