Ahead of the 2015 general elections, Nigerians have been donating money to support the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari.
Addressing a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja, Buhari disclosed that so far, the sum of N54.4 million has been donated into his campaign coffers.
Also, as part of efforts to mobilize the people, he said no fewer than 82 groups have been registered under the aegis of Buhari Support Groups (BSO).
His words, “So far, Nigerians have donated N54, 415. 70 to support our campaign ahead of the 2015 presidential election and currently 82 support groups have been registered under the Buhari Support Organisations (BSO).
“The BSO has 475,796 coordinators and a total membership in the region of 8,492, 226 across the country.
“To actualise our dreams and we intend to use the registration and donation cards to enlist the members of the groups as volunteer change agents.
“I know we live in difficult times. There is insecurity, corruption, poverty and above all the uncertainty of lives which is becoming unbearable.
“I want to appeal to our supporters to continue making sacrifice till we get the needed change,” Buhari said.
Buhari, a former military Head of State is running alongside a former Attorney General in Lagos State, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
