A road accident involving four vehicles  has killed a male adult along Okija Road in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra.

Mr. Andrew Kumapayi, State Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Awka.

Kumapayi said the accident, which occurred at about 4.00p.m., was caused by route violation.

“The crash involved a Mitsubishi Bus with registration number RUM495AE, Diesel Truck with registration number UWN262XX, a Mercedes Benz 190 with registration number NSH32FM and a Land Rover jeep with registration AE743MNG.

“A witness report indicated that driver of one of the vehicles drove against traffic and rammed into three other vehicles.

“A total of 25 persons were involved in the crash comprising 21 male adults and four female adults.

“Four male adults out of the 25 persons sustained some degree of injuries and were taken to Osongwu Hospital by the Okija Divisional Police.

“One male adult, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles was, however, confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, and his body deposited at the mortuary,” he said.

While condoling with the family of the dead, the FRSC commander urged motorists to desist from route violation or one-way driving.(NAN)
