No fewer than 40 people were killed after an Israeli strike hit a girls’ elementary school in Minab in the southern Hormozgan province, according to Iran’s state-run IRNA.
At least 45 others were wounded in the attack, the news agency reported. It provided no further details about the casualties.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has a base located in Minab, according to reports.
Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, said that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, and Masoud Pezeshkian, the president, were still alive “as far as I know.”
When asked about President Trump’s call for Iranians to overthrow the government, Araghchi dismissively labeled it: “Mission Impossible.”
