Expectedly, the defending champions of the AITEO Cup Women’s football competition Rivers Angels have emerged the top team in the Lafia Centre with the maximum six points.

The Coach Edwin Okon tutored side beat Osun Babes 2-0 last Tuesday in the opening day and they were to face Bayelsa Queens Feeder in today’s final match but the Yenagoa- based Bayelsa Queens failed to show up with rumours rife that they did not want to be disgraced by their more experienced Rivers Angels.

However the Match Officials appointed for the game had to perform the Walkover formalities after waiting for Bayelsa Queens Feeder for the maximum time allowed to call the match. By this ritual Rivers Angels were awarded three goals and maximum points to top Group A.

Rivers Angels will stay back in Lafia Centre to wait for Sunshine Queens of Akure that came second in the Ijebu-Ode Centre.
