The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi will be speaking to Nigerians soon on the outcome of last Saturday’s Presidential election just as he is urging his teeming supporters across the country to prepare more than ever before for the Governorship and States House of Assembly elections on March 11.
Obi’s running mate, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, who spoke again at a Media Briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the election, called for calm even as he is urging supporters to vote for the Labour Party in next week governorship and States House of Assembly polls.
Amidst the disappointment of his teeming supporters on the outcome of the Datti told reporters that the Labour Party had since rejected the result of the February 25 polls on the grounds that the exercise was heavily compromised, adding that while waiting for Obi’s reaction everybody must be focused for the next step, as the party put its acts together.
Calling on the judiciary to prove themselves to be impartial over the 2023 Presidential Election matter, the former legislator
wondered how the results for the Presidential and NASS elections were collated when they were not transmitted electronically, adding that no amount of pressure would get the Labour Party or its agents to preach against peace as he maintained that despite the outcome of the poll, they would still have hope in Nigeria.
Datti said the Labour Party would continue to hold the President Muhammadu Buhari administration accountable for a free and credible election while remaining optimistic of a great outing come March 11 in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate has dismissed speculations of a merger with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying LP has come to stay and is determined to offer Nigerians a breath of fresh air in governance.
