The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that 13,442 newly printed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are still uncollected by their owners in Borno.
INEC’s Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP) in the state, Malam Shuaibu Ibrahim made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Maiduguri.
He said the electoral body supplied 25,171 PVCs for the newly registered voters, adding that only 11,729 of the cards had so far been collected in the state.
He said the Commission received 15,822 cards for transfer and replacement, adding that 4,336 transfer cards and 1,684 replacement cards had been collected.
According to Ibrahim, the Commission is sensitising the electorates on the need to collect thier PVCs, adding that about 167,209 old PVCs are yet to be collected.
NAN reports that a total of 248,241 eligible voters registered during the concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state. (NAN)
