Figures released by the health ministry on Monday showed that Zambia has recorded the lowest daily COVID-19 cases since the emergence of the Omicron variant in Dec. 2021.
The country, which has seen a surge in daily cases of over 1,000 in the fourth wave mainly driven by the Omicron variant, recorded 685 new cases in the last 24 hours.
The cases were picked from 3,402 tests done during the period, bringing the cumulative cases to 296,818.
A total of 3,402 patients were discharged during the same period, bringing the total recoveries to 279,322 while six people died, bringing the total COVID-19 related deaths to 3,866.
The southern African nation currently has 13,629 active cases out of whom 207 are admitted in isolation facilities while 13,422 are under community management. (Xinhua/NAN)
