The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State command, has deployed no fewer than 800 personnel to support other security agencies in ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations across the state.
In a statement in Sokoto on Thursday, signed by its Public Relation Officer (PRO), DSC Hamza Illela, the command said adequate arrangements to ensure the celebrations were peaceful had fully been put in place.
“The NSCDC Commandant, Mr Muhammad Dada, has directed the deployment of 800 personnel comprising of uniform and non uniform, as this will man all worship, resort centers and continue to watch all other activities to aid our collective desire of ensuring peace before, during and after the festive period across the state.
“As such, we appeal to the good people of Sokoto to continue to be law abiding and cooperate with security agencies by ensuring timely report on any suspicious activity around them for proactive measures,” he said. (NAN)
