A Kaduna based group, the Young Professionals has commended the Governor of Central Bank, Mr Godwin Emefiele for his calm and effective management of the apex bank in this difficult fiscal era.
In a statement issued Friday and signed by its General Secretary, Abdul-Kareem Inuwa, the group observed that despite all the pressure and distractions, Emefiele has kept faith with his mandate of steering the troubled ship of forex management alongside the regulation of the banking sector.
“We want to put it on record that the CBN governor has demonstrated utmost sense of professionalism and personal integrity as he navigates the finance, economic and political waters occasioned by the strategic importance of his office.
He has refused to give in to intimidation and has remained consistent in running an unemotional CBN.
“Worldwide, the economy is in distress and forex earnings by commodity based economies are shrinking by the day, thereby negatively affecting the value of their currency. The sad reality is that low forex earnings mostly equals low national currency value.
“We symphatise with President Muhammadu Buhari and the CBN governor. These are troubled times when firm and unemotional leaders are needed . We urge the duo to remain fixated on national interest. That is the only way to survive this turbulency that is not limited to Nigeria”, the group noted.
