The former Berekum Chelsea of Ghana Sporting Director, Chidi Emmanuel Okonkwo has warned the Super Eagles to stop talking about the stadium (Baba Yara) and stick to their preparations for the double header World Cup qualifying clashes against Ghana with utmost serirousness.
Acording to the City FC Boss, “Ghanaians know me very well in football, I’m like a serious stakeholder in Ghanaian football. In football terms am like a half Ghanaian, a half Nigerian.”
“We have been talking about these games, they can’t just sit down and be saying, ‘no body has beaten them in Baba Yara stadium’ because I know Nigeria can beat them there.”
He further stated that, “I always say the first game of these World Cup qualifiers will decide who goes to Qatar. So, if Nigeria beat them there Nigeria will go to Qatar but, if Ghana beat Nigeria there, it becomes a serious issue. When it comes to Ghana Nigeria match, it is like Brazil and Argentina game, the first leg is very important.”
The former Delta force chairman stressed further that, “ the way Ghanaians are preparing and talking about Baba Yara Stadium, they can’t rely on the stadium. They have to prepare well because Nigeria is preparing for the game, I know Nigeria will qualify for the world cup in Qatar.” He concluded.
The crucial World Cup qualifiers for Qatar world cup this year’s first leg between Nigeria and Ghana is slated to be on the 25th of March while the second leg will be at the MKO Abiola stadium on the 29th of the same month in 2022.
