The IBB International Golf and Country Club Ladies Open Golf Championship is underway in Abuja as the 25th edition of the prestigious trophy is up for graps.
The three-day event featuring over 200 Amateur Lady Golfers drawn from all the 36 states and Abuja as well as Uganda, Ghana and South Korea.
Performing the ceremonial tee off on thursday evening, Minister, Women Affairs and Social Development, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye praises the Lady Captain and the Ladies section for organizing the event.
She commended Sportswomen across various sporting Associations for winning laurels both within and outside the continent.
The Minister promised continued support of the Ministry to all women in their quest to put Nigeria name on the World maps.
Speaking at a press conference, Lady Captain, Folashade Olateju charged the participants to compete favorably without rancor.
She said the Ladies section will make this year’s event, a memorable one not only for the club but the participants as well.

” In the 18-hole Pro competition which took place on tuesday, a prize money of two Million Naira were shared among the top winners”, Abimiku said.
While 200 Ladies began the chase for the converted trophy on Friday, the first 45 will be selected on Saturday night, to compete for Champion’s game on the final day.
