Rangers International Football Club’s Technical Adviser, Abdul Maikaba, has lamented the fact that his team missed several goal scoring chances against Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi in Awka on Sunday.
Maikaba told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday that his team played well against the visitors in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day 12 game.
But he added that it was lamentable that they failed to convert the scoring chances that came their way.
NAN reports that the 2022/2023 NPFL Group B Match Day 12 fixture ended 1-1.
The coach said even though it was clear that the Lobi Stars goalkeeper saved his team from conceding more than a goal, Rangers’ players were not prolific in front of the goal.
”We have to blame ourselves for the result. We created more than 10 goal scoring opportunities, but ended up scoring just one goal.
”Our opponents created one chance and converted it to a goal. But we will endeavour to improve in the coming games.
”We need to win our games, and I believe that we will get it right from our next match,” Maikaba said.
NAN reports that Rangers are currently placed seventh on the Group B log with 13 points from 12 matches.
The Flying Antelopes will take on hosts Sunshine Stars FC at the Akure Township Stadium on Sunday in their match day 13 fixture.(NAN)
