Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy (CME) Mr Wale Edun has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not turn his back on the Nigerian masses suffering the pains of the ongoing reforms.
He assured Nigerians that the current discomfort being experienced across the country will become a thin6 of the past in short while.
Addressing Directors of the ministry when he arrived after being Inaugurated as minister, Edun charged all staff of the ministry “to deliver and perform as expected of you”.
According to him, “the expectations of Nigerians are high, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken key macro, monetary and fiscal measures that will change the economy. It is our duty to minimize the pains that will come with the reforms. We have a job to do to ensure that Nigerians are not left behind”.
Wale Edun said he was impressed with the level of automation and digitisation of the activities of the ministry, noting that with what he has seen the the ministry should be able to deliver on the expectations of President Tinubu for Nigerians.
The CME praised his immediate predecessor Zainab Ahmed for what she did with the economy and promised to build on her achievements in order to take “the country to greater heights”.
At another elaborate session with Directors of the Minitry, the former Lagos state Commissioner of Finance underscored Nigerians’ high expectations of the current administration, an expectation he said must not be toyed with.
” I have been to this ministry before now on many occasions on special assignments . The former Minister of Finance Budget and National planning Mrs Zainab Ahmed did a good work. We will consolidate on she did and we will take it to a greater height.
“We need to deliver, we need to perform. Nigerians expectations are high. Mr. President has set the ball rolling. He has taken some macro , fiscal and monetary measures that will leave Nigeria for the better. It’s our duty to help him to ensure the pains are minimized. We know we have a job to do to making sure the reforms don’t leave anybody behind”, he said. READ ALSO:

He solicited cooperation of ministry’s Directors and other personel in achieving desired result, adding, “we can do it, let’s work together to ensure we achieve our dream”.
In his introductory remark earlier, Permanent Secretary ( Special Duties) Mr. Udo Okokon Ekanem recalled some of the good antecedents of the Minister as Commissioner of Finance in Lagos state and expressed optimism he will leave such imprint at the federal level.
” Congratulations on your appointment and redeployment to the ministry of finance. Here, we have committed and dedicated staff that are willing and ready to work. We have heard a lot about you, your good work in Lagos. Staff here are receptive. We are ready to work with you”.
The Permanent Secretary ( Finance) Mallam Aliyu Ahmed said the Minister was in a familiar terrain having manned similar portfolios in Lagos and outside of Nigeria where he had tremendous work exposures.
Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties of the ministry Mr. Udo Okokon Ekanem pledged the total commitment and loyalty of every staff of the ministry to the minister.
He said staff of the ministry “are receptive to change and innovation and pledge to work with the Minister”.
Wale Edun arrived at the ministry at exactly 1:58 pm to a rousing welcome from the staff of the ministry. Thereafter the union sang the solidarity song to formally welcome him to the ministry before he took the elevator to the seventh floor where he had a brief meeting with the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) Dr Oluwatoyin Madein.
