Marine Military Academy (MMA, United States has named two Nigerians, sophomore Chukwuemeka Atuma and David Ige, the Cadet of the Month for Fox Company and Cadet of the Month for Golf Company respectively for February 2014.
According to a statement by Andi Atkinson, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, “The cadet (Atuma) who receives his esteemed award is nominated by his drill instructor for his exemplary attitude, conduct, academic performance and involvement at MMA.
“In addition to the recognition he received on March 3, Atuma was treated to a special dinner hosted by the MMA superintendent and his wife”.
Atuma, a first-year cadet, plans to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass., and will likely major in aeronautical engineering. He intends on pursuing a career in the astronomy field. The 14-year-old is the son of the Obiagelia and Emeka Atuma.
Also, David Ige, who receives the esteemed award (Cadet of the Month for Golf Company) is nominated by his drill instructor for his exemplary attitude, conduct, academic performance and involvement at MMA.
In addition to the recognition he received on March 3, Ige was treated to a special dinner hosted by the MMA superintendent and his wife.
After he graduates in May, Ige plans to study economics at Baze University in Abuja, Nigeria, and pursue a career in international business. He is the son of Ike and Oge Neliaku.
Marine Military Academy is a college-preparatory, boarding school for young men in grades 8-12 with an optional post-graduate year. Since 1965, MMA is the only private school in the world based on the traditions and values of U.S. Marine Corps.
