LONDON – By Omobolaji Oyegunle Super Eagles invitee Kelechi Iheanacho has urged Manuel Pellegrini to let him loose in the second leg Champions League semi-final game against Real Madrid.
Manchester City’s Nigerian hot-shot again showed his huge potential by scoring twice against Stoke City on Saturday.
That takes his goals tally for the season to 11 from just 15 shots on target – a record even his strike partner Sergio Aguero would be proud of.
Iheanacho,19, is likely to be on the bench when his team line-up for the Champions League seem-final-but he gave his boss plenty to think about.
He said:” It would be a dream come true to play against them. I think l’ll be happy when l play against them.
“I would feel very great, l would feel very happy. I would grab the opportunity and really work hard.
“Cristian Ronaldo is one of the greatest players on the planet so l think playing against hi them is a big thing to anyone.
“So it would be a big thing to me if l play against him on Tuesday.
“This game against Stoke was a great preparation for us against Real Madrid.
“On Tuesday, we need to focus and work hard because they’re a good side. I think we are prepared to face them.
“It was a great performance for everybody, everybody really did well, so it depends on who the manager picks. Everyone is fit to face Madrid”.
Iheanacho is showing signs of developing a great understanding with City’s superstar striker Sergio Aguero.
The Etihad faithful are already getting excited about what the deadly duo could achieve together and so is Kelechi.
He said:” I’m very pleased to play with Sergio, linking up well with him, playing with him.
“It’s a big thing so l’m really happy and looking forward to playing with him in future.”
