Jamaica head coach Rudolph Speid believes his side has what it takes to defeat the Super Eagles in the final of the Unity Cup, Prompt News Online reports.
The Reggae Boys secured a place in the final of the invitational tournament after a comfortable 2-0 win against India on Wednesday night.
Courtney Clarke and Kaheim Dixon scored the goals for the North Americans in the encounter.
Jamaica were runners-up to the Super Eagles in the previous edition of the competition and came close to victory last year after fighting back from two goals down before eventually losing 5-4 on penalties to Éric Chelle’s side.
Speid, however, is optimistic his team can finally get the better of the three-time African champions this time around
“Well, they (Super Eagles) are very, very good but every team is beatable, and we have to be aware of what they bring,”Spied said after the game against India.
“We have some things to bring ourselves. Jamaica is still in a rebuilding stage, lots of young players. As with the game these days, nobody is a winner before the game is played. That’s where we are right now.”
