Sen. Uba Sani (Kaduna Central) on Tuesday declared his intention to contest for Kaduna State governorship seat in the 2023 election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Declaring his intention at the APC secretariat in Kaduna, Sani said his decision to contest was borne out of the party’s desire to deliver good governance to the people at all levels.
Sani said that he was in a better position to ensure continuity and add new developmental strides to the good work and transformation currently going on in Kaduna, if elected.
“Kaduna State has been taken to a new level under Malam Nasir El Rufai; the state has been totally reworked in all the sectors; it is truly a new dawn in Kaduna State.
“The challenge before us is how to sustain a legacy of outstanding public service; the impact of the reversal of the gains in the post-2023 era will be a huge tragedy.
“Our people can’t settle for anything less, this is the reason that I am humbly stepping forward to carry the banner of continuity.
“I understand El-Rufai’s vision and mission; I stand in a good position to sustain his vision and mission, I am conversant with the developmental challenges in the state, I understand it’s complexities and possibilities.
“I have worked very closely with El-Rufai for over 20 years, spanning his days at the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), the period he served as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
“And, of course, when President Olusegun Obasanjo graciously appointed me his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, I benefitted immensely from wise counsel, from Malam El Rufa’i, who was at the time a key and highly respected member of the Obasanjo administration.
“I, therefore, declare my intention to help entrench the transformational legacy of our inimitable Gov. Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i by seeking the nomination of our party,” Sani said. (NAN)
