Nigeria’s U-17 women’s football team, the Flamingos camp opened in Abuja today (Sunday) with some of the invited players already on ground for the technical crew to start screening as early as Monday or Tuesday.
The camp is opening ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup African qualifier match against Guinea on February 28, 2020 in Conakry.
Prompt News can confirm that most of the invited players left their bases on Saturday for the Federal Capital TerrTerritory (FCT), Abuja where the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has set up camp for the team even as others are on their way to the Serob Legacy Hotel camp as at time of this report.
Among those on their way to Abuja to link up with the early birds are nine players from the Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt including Oluchi Okpara, Chinyere Kalu, Opeyemi Ajakaye, and Ihuoma Chinyere.
Others are Deborah Abiodun, Odinaka Nweke, Miracle Ohiaeri, Adaebube Praise and Chukwuebuka Kelechi as well as players from Ibom Queens of Uyo; FC Robo of Lagos, Nasarawa Amazons, Edo and Delta Queens FC respectively.
However, Prompt News could not confirm the identities of members of the coaching crew of Flamingos following the sacking last year of the previous managers of all the national women’s football teams.
