There were palpable fears across Gombe Thursday evening as explosion rocked the residence of the State Governor, Ibrahim Dakwambo, raising fears that the dreaded insurgents, Boko Haram may have invaded the City.
The building where the explosion occurred is the private residence of Mr. Dakwambo but also serves as his official residence.
Prompt News learnt that no fewer than two security personnel have been feared killed and few others injured.
It was also said that the impact of the explosion affected the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) stationed at the residence.
However, it was gathered that the explosion was caused by a grenade accidental discharged from one of the security operatives deployed to guard the building.
A close associate of the Governor and Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Abdullahi Jalo, confirmed the incident, saying “It is true that there was some kind of explosion in an armoured car near the House of the Governor of Gombe State. It was not a bomb attack.
“There was an accidental discharge, I cannot confirm casualties yet but I understand there were some.”
