Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, and their commercial driver after they were abducted by armed men along the Daye-Malumfashi Road.
The victims were kidnapped on Monday after the assailants attacked a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina in the Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.
The Deputy Director of Information, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, 8 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olamiyi Osoba, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.
Osoba said troops were alerted to the attack through a distress call received on the evening of September 21, 2026.
He said the troops immediately mobilised to the area, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee.
According to him, all seven victims were rescued unhurt and subsequently taken through preliminary security profiling and medical checks.
Osoba said the rescued students and driver were later handed over to designated officials to facilitate their reunion with their families and school authorities.
He stated, “Following the preliminary security profiling and necessary medical evaluations, the rescued individuals were safely handed over to designated officials to facilitate their safe reunion with their families and school authorities.”
The latest rescue operation is part of efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West.
