A devastating motor accident along the Akwanga-Abuja road has claimed the lives of entire family returning to Abuja after spending the Christmas and New Year holidays in Makurdi.
The victims, identified as Victor Angbiandoo Tyohemba, a 37-year-old accountant; his wife, Erdoo Stephanie; and their two young daughters, Agnes and Immaculate, lost their lives in the crash on January 4, 2025.
Confirming the tragic incident on Tuesday, Victor’s elder brother, Emmanuel Tyohemba, expressed deep sorrow over the family’s untimely demise.
“It is with profound sadness that the family of Mr. Gabriel Mmem Tyohemba Ambe announces the heartbreaking deaths of their beloved members: Mr. Victor Angbiandoo Tyohemba (Husband), Mrs. Erdoo Stephanie Angbiandoo (Wife), Miss Agnes Ngohide Angbiandoo (Daughter), and Miss Immaculate Sesughter Angbiandoo (Daughter).
They all perished in a fatal motor accident along the Akwanga-Abuja road while traveling back to Abuja,” Emmanuel said.
The crash occurred on January 4, 2025, but the deaths were only confirmed the following day.
However, the remains of the victims were retrieved and laid to rest in their hometown of Igbor on January 6, 2025.
Recounting how he received the ugly news, Emmanuel said he became concerned when he was unable to reach his brother or his family after they left Makurdi on Saturday.
“We tried calling him and his wife, but their numbers were unreachable. By the following day, we started making inquiries about which transport company they used. Eventually, I learned that a bus traveling to Abuja on Saturday was involved in an accident,” he explained.
However, Emmanuel contacted the transport company’s manager, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, while he went to retrieve the bodies of his loved ones for burial.
