Contrary to allegations that the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics games Paralifting gold medalists, Bose Omolayo lack the wherewithal to cate for her family, the athlete has denied this vehemently.
The immediate past president of the Nigeria Par Powerlifting Federation (NPPF), Queen Idris has said here in Tokyo that Omolayo cannot cater for her children before coming for the games in Tokyo, saying she has encouraged her to win gold medal so that her life can change for good.
Queen said, “She has challenges catering for her children before the Tokyo games and I informed her that winning a gold medal is a plus for her and she will be able to cater for the needs of her children “.
Reacting swiftly to this, a visibly angry Omolayo said, “I am not in anyway hungry as said by Queen. How on earth will she have said that about me and my family.
“For records, I have been working with Delta state sports commission for the past ten years even long before I met or knew her.
“I earned salaries from Delta state government, so how can she now say I am hungry or cannot cater for my children.
“This has really embarrassed my family, my husband is at the moment angry and fuming over that statement credited to the former president”, she said.
The light skinned paralifter added, “I am saying this so that people will know that with the little I have with my husband, we have been able to take care of ourselves and has never for once collected money from her before the games except the 50,000 yen she promised if I should win gold.
“I am bold to say it anywhere that what she (Queen) said about me was a blatant lie but nothing but a white lie”, she told Nigeria Tribune correspondent covering the Games in Tokyo.
