Tiwei Orunimigha has emerged the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State.
The Former Chairman of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the State emerged after the State congress in Yenagoa.
To serve on the State Executive Committee of the Party with him are the former Chairman of the Ekeremor Local Government Council, Eddy Julius as the State Deputy Chairman and Martins Daniel as the Secretary.
Also elected are Edison Sogwe as the State Youth Leader and Sir. Tonye Okio as the State’s Organizing Secretary.
The congress was witnessed by five representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the State and National headquarters and the National officers of the Party led by Dr. Ekpeyon Ottu from Akwa Ibom State.
The election was doen through affirmative as earlier announced by the presiding officer, Ekpeyon Ottu, having harmonised the list with another chairmanship aspirant, Sunday Frank-Okputu.
The chairman, Tiwei, in his acceptance speech said “With this election of a proper executive of the party, the problem in Bayelsa APC is gone.
“The journey to take over the Bayelsa State Government House has started. Let me remind our members that the APC is not an opposition party but the alternative in Bayelsa State.”
Ahead of the 2016 Governorship poll, he said the party would soon organize a rally to welcome back to the State a former Governor Timipre Sylva.
He spoke further, “With all humility, we will sweep off the Dickson administration in 2016.The PDP has failed in Bayelsa State.”
“The Ogas and Madams at the top choose who they want and when they want them. If you are not chosen, you never serve your people.
“If they choose you, you will only serve Oga and Madam and not the people of the State. Bayelsa is being ruled with lies.
“They promised robust Agricultural plan but what you have seen is a robust building of houses by their families and friends.
“If a government of the day was built on poverty mentality, they will scurry away with the wealth of the State and not for the benefit of the people.”
