President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Mutiu Sunmonu, a corporate titan and respected figure in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, on his 70th birthday.

Mr. Sunmonu, the former managing director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd from 2008 to 2015, currently serves as Chairman of Petralon Energy, a pioneering indigenous exploration and production company.

After retiring from Shell, the University of Lagos and Harvard University alumnus became a sought-after corporate expert.

He chairs the board of many companies, including Julius Berger Plc, from which he recently stepped down. He is also a non-executive director of the Nigerian Exchange Group.

The President joins family, friends, and associates in celebrating the technocrat and boardroom player whose life has been marked by resilience, visionary leadership, and commitment to national development.

“Your exemplary life of diligence, integrity, and enduring faith in Nigeria demonstrated through your continuous interest in the oil and gas sector has significantly advanced skills development, employment generation, and increased crude oil production,” President Tinubu states.
