The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN), Oyo State Chapter has partnered a real estate firm, Baron Akintunde Opaleye and Co on the actualisation of the proposed SWAN Village in Ibadan.
The partnership was sealed on Wednesday in Ibadan during a meeting between the firm and Oyo SWAN leaders led by its Chairman, Mr Niyi Alebiosu.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the meeting featured the presentation of land documents of three plots to Oyo SWAN by Chief Akintunde Opaleye, the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
NAN recalls that Opaleye, who is also the State Chairman, Amateur Boxing Association had handed the documents to SWAN to redeem his earlier pledge to the association.
Opaleye said that the land gift was to appreciate the support he enjoyed with his association from SWAN.
“I am using this opportunity to present to SWAN half an acre of land at Alata area of Oluyole local government in Oyo State which I promised them during their SWAN week last year.
“It is in fulfillment of that promise that I am presenting the land documents to you today,” he said.
He said that his firm was also partnering SWAN on the acquisition of piece of land for the SWAN village project, promising that the project would start soon.
According to him,”We are also partnering SWAN on the acquisition of piece of land that will be designed into residential layout and named SWAN village at Oluyole local government.
“This is going to start very soon and in a matter of days. So, we are already entering into agreement and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU).”
Alebiosu in his remarks thanked Opaleye for fulfilling his promise to the association, pledging more support for him and his association.
He appreciated the gift and assured that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure a smooth partnership on the acquisition of land for the SWAN Village project.
The chairman said that the committee of SWAN in the state would meet with the firm’s team to finalise the partnership process towards its actualisation.(NAN)
