The official Nigerian delegation to the ill-fated pursuit of 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy in Morocco, sneaked into the country in the wee hours of Monday.
The delegation made up of the remaining members of the technical crew, backroom staff and some administrative staff of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) arrived Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos in the early hours of Monday aboard Royal Air Maroc flight which took off from Mohamed V International Airport in Casablanca on Sunday night.
Recall Prompt News exclusively reported the departure of Super Falcons Head Coach Randy Waldrum and his American Assistant, Lauren; United States-born players as well as NFF bigwigs including the leader of delegation to Morocco left the team hotel a day after Nigeria was defeated by Zambia in the third- place match of WAFCON 2022.
The rest of the Nigerian delegation who spent two extra days in Casablanca after the 1-0 loss to Zambia has finally returned home under the dark sky of Lagos.
Prompt News can confirm that the players and officials have gone their different ways from the airport just as there is no official statement yet from the football house in Abuja on the future Super Falcons’ technical crew which many Nigerians believe performed below expectations in Morocco.
Nigeria finished in the fourth position in the 12-nation competition and also lost three matches out of six, the highest number of loss the Super Falcons have recorded in the 24 year-old WAFCON final.
