The President of Umunneochi Coaches Association, Eze Onyemaechi Michael is happy that Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka who hails from Mbala Isuochi in Umunneochi local government area of of Abia state paid a courtesy visit to Gorvenor Alex Otti and Pillar of Sports in Umunneochi, Dr. Chris Odinaka Igwe, OFR, and CEO, Mainland Oil & Gas Limited to inform them of his plans to establish a football academy in his locality as a way to give back to the society.
He said as the President of Umunneochi Coaches Association he has been working hard to develop football in the local communities in umunneochi, Abia state and Nigeria in general even as he believes with Onyeka’s involvement in grassroots football, Umunneochi will continue to produce more quality players for the state and the country.
Michael who is also the Proprietor/Head Coach of Bohold Football Club of Umunneochi, said he is proud that his vision has attracted many investors to Umunneochi LGA like

The tournament which started with a novelty match played at Chrisnnak Stadium in Amuda, Isuochi, Umunnechi LGA on Sunday, June 16, 2024 between Nigeria
Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Abia Wariors Feeder team and Bohold FC which Abia Wariors won by a lone goal will see Bohold FC take on Young Boys FC on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Chrisnnak stadium.
The tournament which is played in league format is ongoing across two centers Okigwe stadium and Chrisnnak stadium, Umunneochi just as no fewer than nine clubs based in Umunneochi are taking part in the competition.
They are Bohold FC, Umunneochi; Temper Collers, Amuda; Golden Boot FC, Lokpaukwu; Sports United FC, Ngodo; Buberio FC, Amuda; Miracle FC ,Umuaku; Taiti FC, Umuaku; Young Boys FC, Umuaku and Bright FC, Nneato.
The tournament is aproved by Abia State Football Association Chairman Dr Obioma Onyeaghala.
“Umunneochi is blessed with so many talented players who are as good as Super Eagles’ Frank Onyeka and our focus is to harness these future Onyekas; as many of them as are playing good football and put them in some good football academy clubs and Nigerian National League (NNL) teams in Nigeria”, Michael revealed.
Recall Onyeka, a native of Umunneochi, Okigwe had last week paid a courtesy visit to Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti at Government House, Umuahia in the company of his mentor and Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 Presidential Election, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed. The Super Eagles star had posted photos in his social media along with message that said, “Had the privilege of meeting Governor @alexottiofr and witnessed the remarkable progress he’s made in Abia state.
“I look forward to collaborating with him in building the next generation of football players”.
