Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has said it is important for his team to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Prompt News reports.
The West Africans recorded their first win in the qualifiers courtesy of a 2-0 victory over the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali on Friday night.
The Super Eagles moved to fourth position in Group C following the comfortable victory.
“We have great players and they need to go to the World Cup,” he declared at the post-match media briefing.
Chelle tasked his players to improve after clash with Rwanda.
“It was a difficult game because Rwanda have a great team and they made a great game, The players followed the game plan, the victory was expected,” he added.
“But we need to improve, this was the first game. We have another game in a few days, we need to win again.”
The Super Eagles will welcome the Warriors of Zimbabwe to Uyo next week Tuesday.
