The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) and National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) branch of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) have applauded the retirement of the SSAEAC President General, Chris Okonkwo but demanded that he must give account of his stewardship
while in office.
The unions articulated over 13-point alleged grievous infractions and atrocities claimed to have been committed by the erstwhile SSAEAC
President General who was before now the TCN General Manager (Special Duties) while in service.
SSAEAC and NUEE in a statement noted that despite his ceaseless instigation of the unions to cause industrial disharmony within the power sector for no just course, the management of TCN had over the years tolerated his excesses.
The statement was jointly signed by the Council Secretary, TCN NUEE Abuja Branch, Comrade Monday Johnson; Regional Branch President, SSAEAC TCN Branch Abuja, Comrade Ibrahim Mohammed; Chapter Chairman NUEE TCN Corporate HeadQuarters Abuja, Comrade C.O Adah and Branch Chairman SSAEAC TCN Corpprate HeadQuarters Abuja, Comrade Musa Ambursa.
According to the unions, “We must not fail to also place on notice that SSAEAC TCN Branch at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) would not fail to resist any attempt to return Okonkwo to TCN to overheat the organization and disrupt harmony and peace at our work place.
“The harm and destruction he has brought to bear on our Union would take years to clean up. We have always queried his coming to TCN that is suspect and his antecedents spell doom for growth of the sector.
“He has proven over the years to be a misfit and untrainable to fit into TCN either as staff or Management. His exit is a huge relief.
“SSAEAC TCN Branch pledge our unalloyed support to work with the current Management of TCN, our sister Union NUEE, Ministry of Power and Ministry of Labour and Productivity and the Federal Government at large to effectively contribute our quota much more than before now without Okonkwo’s hindrance for staff welfare and services to the Nation.”
They further maintained that “He MUST render accounts of his stewardship. He must account for our check offs remittances over the years, our hotel investment at Enugu, our gigantic and Secretariat and big structure at Durumi, behind Area one, Abuja. Our Secretariat at Ijora, Lagos just to mentioned a few.
“Once again, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) would enjoy peace and tranquility for enhanced productively in the power sector.”
