Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, will Friday evening lead other invited dignitaries for the ceremonial tee off of the Mrs Grace Ihonvbere 60th birthday invitational open at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
The 18-hole event will climax the week-long activities lined up to celebrate the 60th birthday anniversary of the past Lady captain of the club.
Other activities that have been concluded include Caddies tournament, Veterans, and Super Veterans competition while Pros championship is billed for this morning.
On Saturday, it will be the turn of Men’s Divisions 1 & 2 in Handicap zero to twenty and Ladies Divisions 1& 2 in Handicap Zero to twenty-eight to slug it out for the winner trophy.
So far, 200 Amateur golfers both within the Federal Capital Territory and across the Federation have registered for the one day championship.
The celebrant, Chief Mrs Grace Ihonvbere, said she decided to celebrate her birthday on the golf course with colleagues and friends to show her appreciation for their support over the years.
” Golf is my game, my passion, my life having started playing since age 15. Because of the numerous benefits of the game, i dedicate a lot of time, energy, and resources to it. This is just my own way of promoting the game, building sporting relationships, and showing appreciation for their goodwill and support over the years”, She said.
Grace Ihonvbere, wife of Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Leader of the House of Representatives that represent Owan Federal Constituency of Edo State in the National Assembly, said preparation is on top gear for the Saturday event despite the numbers of players that registered.
She assured everyone that the course is more than ready for Saturday. The past Lady Captain of the prestigious IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, expressed profound gratitude to the Board of Trustees, the current Executive, Management and Staff for their support since the commencement of the birthday anniversary golf activities.
Highlight of the Saturday night includes presentations of trophies as well as awards of different prizes among various categories.
