Governors Kashim Shettima and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Borno and Sokoto States respectively, were at the weekend in Gusau, capital of Zamfara State in honour of Shettima’s Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau, whose youngest sister, Sadiya Umar Gusau, a 28-year old graduate of Geography, was given out in marriage on Saturday in Gusau.
Shettima who was in Kaduna on Thursday for the 50th memorial of late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, thereafter proceeded to Gusau on Friday and passed the night there to honour the family of his spokesman in the last five years, who hails from Gusau town in Zamfara State. Governor Tambuwal was the Sardauna memorial on Thursday, he departed for Sokoto same day before driving to Gusau on Saturday to join Shettima.
The two Governors were at a popular Jumma’a mosque and Islamic centre, Rabiah, were the wedding fatiha took place after which they paid visit to the family house of Shettima’s spokesman in Gusau were the two Governors were cheerfully received by dozens of family members, residents in the neighborhood and a crowd of admirers who offered prayers for the special guests.
“We are here to reciprocate and appreciate the loyalty of Isa Gusau to the Borno State Government in the last five years. He left Gusau to serve us, he is not our slave but our brother and friend. We came here to show how much he means to us and how much we value him” Shettima said concerning the visit.
Head of the family, Mohammed Babangida Umar, an Abuja based legal practitioner and investor in real estate, who received the two Governors during the wedding activities, described Governor Shettima “as an entirely different kind of leader with humility that is out of the world”.
“I was shocked when my younger brother, Isa Umar Gusau, told me that his boss, His Excellency, Governor Shettima was coming all the way to Gusau by road purposely to attend the wedding of the youngest in our family, of course, to honour our younger brother and our humble family which has been without our beloved father and mother for over twenty years. I just couldn’t comprehend that level of simplicity and kindness. My shock became intense when he told me that His Excellency, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was also coming to support Governor Kashim, and indeed, he came.
“The visit and participation of these two highly respected and publicly admired Governors has opened a new chapter in the history of our family, which we will cherish forever. I pray that Allah continue to honour both of them and their respective families in this world and in the hereafter” Babangida said while responding to journalists after the wedding fatiha.
Governor Shettima’s Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau who was visibly full of excitement, told journalists that while he was astonished, he wasn’t surprised at all by the kindness of his boss, Kashim Shettima and Tambuwal.
“Governor Kashim Shettima exhibits kindness without being conscious of this actions and this shows how real he has been since I knew him almost ten years ago. I haven’t related closely with Governor Aminu Tambuwal but I have heard news about how he has visited hundreds of Federal constituencies in Nigeria to support members of the House of Representatives when he was Speaker, I have always admired the ways he conducted his affairs. I didn’t know he was as simple and kind as my boss but I knew he has humble and has always been a likeable leader. “
“From day one, My boss, Kashim Shettima has always regarded me as his blood brother and I see him as an elder brother, not different from my eldest brother, Mohammed Babangida Umar and this is why I serve him with passion and emotions. Only Allah can recompense my two bosses, the two Governors. I am humbled and I pray that grants us peace and endless progress which they are seriously working to achieve” Gusau said.
Meanwhile, the two Governors left Gusau on Saturday evening as confirmed by Isa Gusau in a statement.
