All matches in Italian Serie A, Serie B Serie C and Primavera billed to take place on Easter Monday have been officially postponed for a period of mourning following the death of Pope Francis.
Prompt News reports that Pope Francis was confirmed dead at the age of 88 on Monday.
Serie A have confirmed that the postponed matches involving Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina and Torino will now take place on Wednesday, April 23 instead of Easter Monday.
Six games have already taken place over the course of the Easter weekend.
The weekend’s action began with Como’s 3-0 victory over Lecce and Napoli’s 1-0 win over Monza. Roma also beat Hellas Verona 1-0 on Saturday.
Then, on Easter Sunday, Empoli and Venezia were held level at 2-2, Bologna beat Inter 1-0, while Atalanta secured a 1-0 victory away against Milan.
