The Nigerian Senate has established an 18-member committee to oversee the activities of the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the formation of the committee on Tuesday during the chamber’s plenary session.
He said the move aims to promote transparency and accountability in the governance of Rivers State.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele was appointed as chairman of the committee, which Akpabio described as essential for ensuring effective legislative oversight.
Akpabio also indicated that the committee’s composition could be reviewed after further consultations.
He urged members to begin their oversight work immediately, emphasizing the urgency and the Senate’s dedication to preserving democratic values in the state.

Members of the committee include Senators Adamu Aliero, Osita Izunaso, Osita Ngwu, Kaka Shehu, Aminu Abass, Tokunbo Abiru, Adeniyi Adebire, Sani Musa, Simon Lalong, Asuquo Ekpeyong, Adams Oshiomhole, Ireti Kingibe, Onyekachi, Idiat Adebule, Ide Dafinone, and Mohammed (APC, Jigawa), along with the Clerk of the Senate.
