By Olusegun Lawrence As the trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki resumes, Senate on Wednesday adjourned plenary till next week Tuesday.
Mr. Saraki is billed to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Thursday to face trial over alleged false declaration of assets when he was Governor of Kwara state.
The resumption of hearing apparently informed the Senate’s decision to adjourn plenary to enable members be in court to show solidarity.
Prompt News recalls that the Senate President had failed at the Court of Appeal to stop further hearing of the corruption charges preferred against him.
He has also filed an appeal at the Supreme Court, praying it to halt proceedings by the Tribunal.
But, speaking with newsmen over the adjournment of the plenary, Senator Dino Melaye, anchored the Senate’s decision on the need to create room for Adhoc Committees to quickly round-up their reports.
