Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has enjoined Nigerians to inter-marry, saying it will foster greater national cohesion.
The Vice President stated this on Friday, at the wedding reception of Rakkiya Wada the daughter of the Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, and Lateef Oseni from Lagos State, which held at the Thisday Dome, Abuja.
The Vice President, who represented President Goodluck Jonathan at the ceremony, advised the couple that the secret of marriage is patience, fear of God and respect for each other. He also said the “marriage is significant as it is symbolising harmony, peace, and our unity as a people. It complements what we have been doing through the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), to further achieve unity in this country.”
Vice President Sambo had earlier witnessed the Wedding Fatiha, of the couple conducted by the Chief Imam of the Kogi State Government House Mosque, Junaid Mohammed, which also held at the Thisday Dome.
The ceremony was graced by the Governors of Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Bauchi and Katsina States, as well as the wives of several governors. Others present were the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih and several other serving and retired top government functionaries, including royal fathers from Kogi and Lagos States.
