Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) bounced back to winning ways after a 1-0 victory over Abia Comets FC in Match day 3 of the Nigeria National League (NNL) played at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.
Head Coach, Daniel Ogunmodede made four (4) changes to the side that fell in Yenagoa, Bankole Kayode replaced Okeshina Oluwaseun in goal, Ibrahim Yusuf, Ikumo Donatus and Akanni Qudus all returned to the starting line up.
The Sky Blue Stars started brilliantly mounting a lot of pressure on the visitors with Salami Kelvin making multiple saves to deny Ikumo Donatus and Ibrahim Yusuf.
Remo Stars took the lead in the 20th minute as Ibrahim Yusuf put the Sky Blue Stars ahead with a beautiful strike after connecting well with Ikumo Donatus.
Ibrahim Yusuf tried to double the lead for the host in the 35th minute but his attempt hit the woodwork after dazzling past the visitors defenders.
The Sky Blue Stars got another opportunity to increase their tally after goalkeeper, Bankole Kayode sent a long pass to Victor Osuagwu, he found Ikumo Donatus who misplaced his pass but the ball found its way back to Victor Osuagwu who took at once but Salami Kelvin saved to deny him.
Nduka Junior and Agbeko Morgan got opportunities to extend the lead for the host but Salami Kelvin had been the hero for the visitors since the commencement of the game.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men after Benjamin Michael stamped Tsavaa Emmanuel on his chest, minutes after Tsavaa Emmanuel got a chance, he took a shoot at once but it went over the bar.
The visitors continued to find an equaliser but the good chances were keep safe by Bankole Kayode.
With this victory, the Sky Blue Stars are second on the group B2 log with 6points alongside Crown FC who have higher goal difference.
Remo Stars will travel to Ole Township Stadium in Delta State to honour their Match day four fixtures against Holy Arrows FC.
