Real Madrid have confirmed the appointment of Xabi Alonso as their new head coach , Prompt News reports.
Alonso takes over from Carlo Ancelotti for this summer’s Club World Cup.
The 43-year-old signed a three-year contract with the multiple European champions.
The former Spain international will be presented to the media on Monday.
He managed Bayer Leverkusen for three years, and won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal in the 2023/24 season.
Ancelotti leaves the Santiago Bernabéu after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign ended without a major trophy,
Los Blancos lost the League title and Copa del Rey to Barcelona, and were eliminated in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals by Arsenal.
