The result added more pressure on under-fire United manager, Erik ten Hag.
The best chance of the game fell to United with captain Bruno Fernandes hitting the crossbar in the 68th minute.
Aston Villa struggled to carve out scoring opportunities in the game, Prompt News reports.
Unai Emery’s side head into the international break fifth in the table on 14 points after seven games.
United are languishing in 14th with eight points.
