The Police in Zamfara on Thursday presented cheques valued at N4.2 million to families of seven deceased officers who died in the line of duty.
The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara, CP Ayuba Elkanah presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (I-GP) Usman Alkali Baba in Gusau, Zamfara.
Elkanah said he was presenting the money to next of kin of seven deceased Police Officers who died while in active service.
“The presentation of the cheques is part of the I-GP’s family insurance welfare scheme being given to the families of deceased Police officers.”
The Commissioner appreciated the I-G for the gesture and described it as timely and will go a long way in alleviating sufferings of families of the deceased police officers.
Elkanah assured that officers and men of the command would continue to put in their best to restore law and order in Zamfara.
He charged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilize their share of the amount.
The CP commended the I-GP for the gesture, noting that seven set of beneficiaries from the command had received various amounts within the last five months.
“This will serve as morale booster to the serving members of the force to continue to discharge their duties effectively,” Elkanah said.
One of the benefiting families, Gloria Hussaini, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the IGP for the gesture and promised to use the money judiciously. (NAN)
