The Borno State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug peddler found with 116 wraps of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.
Police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday in Maiduguri.
The suspect, 22-year-old Kabura Kayuram, a resident of Jajeri Ward in Maiduguri, was apprehended by the command’s anti-vice squad on January 10 at approximately 11:30 a.m. after credible intelligence led to the operation.
Daso added, “The suspect was caught with the illicit substances, and both he and the seized exhibits have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.”
Borno’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to fighting drug trafficking and other social crimes through community-based policing.
He also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s activities and stay vigilant.
