The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered an assault rifle with live ammunition.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday, saying the suspect was picked up around 1 a.m. on July 15 following credible intelligence.
According to him, operatives from the Special Tactical Unit stormed the suspect’s hideout in Ikorodu, where he was arrested.
Recovered from the scene were one AK-49 rifle with breech number N704983, three magazines, 17 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Hundeyin said the suspect confessed to leading a gang behind several violent crimes across Lagos.

He added that the suspect is in custody and assisting police in tracking down other members of the gang.
