Emmanuel Adebayo, 56-year-old, has been remanded in prison over the alleged murder of a 50-year-old woman, Toyin Olatunji.
Chief Magistrate Tope Aladejana ordered the remand of the defendant in Olokuta Correctional Centre, when he was arraigned before the court on Friday, April 14, 2023.
Adebayo, a pastor in a Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, was arrested in his residence in connection with his tenant’s death.
He allegedly committed the offence on Tuesday, 4 April, 2023, at No.14 Moferere Street, Owe-Akala, Akure, at about 3 pm.
According to the prosecutor, Abdullateef Sulaiman, a fight broke out between the pastor and his tenant and out of anger, the defendant unlawfully killed the woman by pushing her to the floor.
The woman became unconscious and later died.
He said the offence contravenes Sections 310 and 316 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo, 2006, appealing to the Magistrate to remand the defendant in correctional custody, while they await advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The case has been adjourned till April 27, 203 for ruling.
